Nichols Hills is in north central Oklahoma City. In 1928, after building homes in the Heritage Hills, Paseo, Jefferson Park, and Plaza District areas, retired dentist, turned home builder, G.A. Nichols, took advantage of the new transportation of automobiles, and bought 2,000 acres out in the country. He believed residents would now own their own transportation and not have to rely on public streetcars. Mr. Nichols had a vision of creating a residential community that mimicked English countrysides. He designed the area with trails and parks and even ordered tens of thousands of trees and bushes to transform the area into a quiet retreat from the city.
